Mouth Ulcers

Ulcers are small sores that occur in lips, gums, inner cheeks and roof of mouth.

They may occur as a result infections (bacterial, fungal, viral), allergic reactions, accidental biting, vitamin deficiencies, lack of sleep etc.

Most ulcers present with pain and discomfort with a maximum healing time of one week.

If it takes longer  time to heal, get a  professional advice at the earliest as they might indicate an underlying systemic disease.

Having  salty, spicy and sour food can aggravate the pain.

Most of the mouth ulcers present itself as a sore with red margin and yellow or white inner part.

This can affect almost all age groups and might be linked with some metabolic diseases  like diabetes, inflammatory bowel diseases , immune disorders , HIV AIDS and many more.

Almost all individuals in their lifetime experience ulcerations in mouth and they eventually fade off even without any treatment .

Some of the home remedies to bring down ulcer pain includes :

  • Avoiding spicy and acidic food
  • Use of ice over the sore ,which may reduce pain
  • Topical analgesics or pain reliving gels

And the best thing is to wait and watch as they come and go on their own time and mouth itself tries to heal it.
